Solids and Semi Conductor DevicesHigh Yield Facts 1. The solids in which the atoms are arranged ia definite, regular and long range order are said tbe crystalline, otherwise if the atoms are arrangein indefinite, irregular and short range order, theare called amorphous.2. Amorphous substances are termed as glasssubstances, since glass is an amorphous solid.3. Crystalline solids are bounded by flat surfaceand possess uniform chemical composition whilthe distribution of atoms or molecules in amorphousolids are random and chaotic and they are nobounded by flat surface.4. Crystalline solids are anisotropic i.e. the physicaproperties like thermal c

What Are You Doing After Graduation? Your chances of having a good job?maybe even the perfect entry-level job?are better than ever. According to Job Outlook 2007, employers plan to hire 17.4 percent more new college graduates from the class of 2007 than they did from the class of 2006."This marks the fourth straight year that employers have projected percentage increases in the double digits," says Marilyn Mackes, executive director of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the organization that performs the annual survey.More employers across all sectors?service, manufacturing, and government/nonprofit?are planning to hire more ne

Most of you have read projectiles and know how to find the equation of trajectory when the initial velocity, angle of projection are given.Lets consider a reverse problem: Given a general quadratic equation, lets find its initial velocity, angle of projection, time of flight, etc., etc, etc ....Consider a quadratic equation y = ax2+bx+c -------------(1)The X axis is considered to be the horizontal plane, and the Y axis is vetial, positive up.Now, for this equation to represent a projectile, it should be a parabola that opens downwards, ie, a<0Also, it should have two real roots. For the case of a single real root, the equation represents a particle thrown vertica

It is not the famous "hall effect" of physics that we are going to talk about. We are going to talk about how the examination day itself effects you examination performance. So you are thinking ,"what the hell examination hall has to do with our JEE exams??, well then to answer you , it can make you spoil your paper or it can help to accelerate your efficiency and hence your performance. Last few weeks and of course the examination day and the night before has a determining effect on your JEE performance. This analysis focusses upon various factors that effect you

Motion in 1 DimensionTHIS THING IS ALL LONG AND NO WIDE... We will begin this lesson in mechanics by throwing out some of the complicating issues which clutter the general picture. Then when we have a solid understanding of the basics we can add these discarded factors back into our thinking. For the time being we will describe the motion we are studying in terms of space and time without explicitly considering the agents that cause the motion. This simplification is so common that a name has been given to this branch of mechanics. It is called kinematics . One of the fundamental concepts in kinematics is displacem

In chemistry, colligative properties are properties of solvents which are affected by the number of particles into which a solute separates when mixed with a solvent. The four Colligative Properties are: Vapor pressure lowering: When you add a solute to a solvent, you will have some solute molecules that linger at the surface of the liquid. Once the solute is dissolved into the solvent, the amount of solvent molecules hovering over the surface, known as vapor, will decrease and so the vapor pressure of the solvent will have decreased. Freezing point depression: The presence of a solute lowers the freezing point in a solution. It is lower than the freezing

Five step method for attaining goals.. I have always been facsinated by this.. how to achieve my goals.. how to overcome my laziness and complacency.. how to take out the best of myself.. Although i never myself really tried to achieve that!! I was a little satisfied with what i was doing, not knowing that i had immense potential and capability to achieve anything i wished (all of us have!). As they say, 'complacency kills'. It was killing me! I believe many people can relate to this (though i wish not ). So here's something for all of us, these magic formulae for attaining your goal

Suppose I make the assertion: "x is a function of y." What does thisstatement mean, what are its implications? 1. The variable y is to be considered the independent variable.2. The variable x is to be considered the dependent variable.3. The acceptable values of the variable y vary over a set of numbersthat is referred to as the domain of the function.4. The values of the function are symbolically represented by theletter x. The values of the function come from the range of thefunction.5. There is some rule of association { a rule that associates witheach value of y in the domain of the function, a correspondingvalue of x in t

Early historyThe first units of length were based on the human body, the most obvious example being the foot. Other body-based units are the cubit, which is the length of the arm from the elbow to the tip of the middle finger (roughly 18 to 22 inches), and the span, which is the distance between the tip of the thumb and little finger when the fingers are extended. The hand is still used to measure the height of a horse. Needless to say, these units can vary widely from person to person, and an example of allowing for this variance can be seen in the 12th century Scottish definition for the inch, which was taken to be the thumb width from three men - one big, one med

Take the reflection of the part of the curve which is below x-axis (in yellow) wrt to x-axis. Then erase the part which is below x-axis... The restored part along with the reflection will be the required curve (in red dotted) Case 5To draw the graph of form y = f(|x|) (graph 5) Draw the graph of y = f(x) (in yellow) and then erase the part which is to the left of y-axis. Take the reflection to the part of the curve lying to the right of y-axis assuming y-axis as mirror. The part of the curve, which i

One way to extract silver from silver sulphide is to first prepare a complex salt of silver sulphide and then react it with zinc to get 2 mole silver(as per the 12th textbooks on silver extraction).it is a long two step process. now here is a short one step process by reacting silver sulphide with zinc an still we get 2 mole of silver. So why cannot we use the second process? answer completely..
