Pulleys are used in everyday life. They are used in factories for lifting loads, in hoisting flags, in drawing curtains in theatres, in lifts, in drawing water from well etc. There are two types of pulley systems, i.e., fixed pulleys and movable pulleys.Fixed PulleysWe can think of a single fixed pulley as a lever of class I where the fulcrum is at the centre and the load and effort arm have the same length. (shown in the figure below)  Fixed PulleysIf you pass a string over the pulley with one end carrying a weight and the other end attached to a spring balance you will get a measure of the effort you are exerting to pull up the weight. If the weight is 10

Books may also refer to works of literature, or a main division of such a work. In library and information science, a book is called a monograph, to distinguish it from serial periodicals such as magazines, journals or newspapers. The body of all written works including books is literature. In novels and sometimes other types of books (e.g. biographies), a book may be divided into several large sections, also called books (Book 1, Book 2, Book 3, etc.). A lover of books is usually referred to as a bibliophile, a bibliophilist, or a philobiblist, or, more informally, a bookworm.A store where books are bought and sold is a bookstore or bookshop. Topic : TWIN PARADOX OF EINSTEIN

0

The Twin Paradox of Einstein is an interesting thought experiment involving two twins (who are nearly exactly the same age), one of whom sets out on a journey into space and back. Because of the time dilation effect of relativity, the twin who left experiences a slowing down of time and will actually be much younger than the twin that stayed behind. The reason that this is considered a paradox is that Special Relativity seems to imply that either one can be considered at rest, with the other moving. It does, and it doesn't.The confusion arises not because there are two equally valid inertial rest frames, but (here's the tricky part) because there are three.

Inclined Planes What we call wedges or slides in everyday language are called inclined planes in physics-speak. From our experience on slides during recess in elementary school, sledding down hills in the winter, and skiing, we know that when people are placed on slippery inclines, they slide down the slope. We also know that slides can sometimes be sticky, so that when you are at the top of the incline, you need to give yourself a push to overcome the force of static friction. As you descend a sticky slide, the force of kinetic friction opposes your motion. In this section, we will consider problems involving inclined planes both with and witho

Oscillation and Harmonic MotionConsider the following physical phenomena: When you drop a rock into a still pond, the rock makes a big splash, which causes ripples to spread out to the edges of the pond. When you pluck a guitar string, the string vibrates back and forth. When you rock a small boat, it wobbles to and fro in the water before coming to rest again. When you stretch out a spring and release it, the spring goes back and forth between being compressed and being stretched out. There are just a few examples of the widespread phenomenon of oscillation. Oscillation is the natural world’s way of returning a system to its equilibrium p

Students often complain of lack of concentration during studying, especially during the exam times. Also, people complain of difficulty in concentrating while reading any book, magazine, etc. Here are some of the tips that many students will find helpful in improving their concentration power and doing well in life:1.Asking yourself questions again and again: The key to maintaining focus is to stop at regular intervals and asking yourself certain questions, such as;a. How does this relate to what I already know?b. If this fact true, what else does it follows?c. What else could these facts mean in different ways?d. What is the relevance / evidence of this?e. Am

Laws of thermodynamicsMain article: Laws of thermodynamicsThermodynamics defines four laws which do not depend on the details of the systems under study or how they interact. Hence these laws are generally valid, can be applied to systems about which one knows nothing other than the balance of energy and matter transfer. Examples of such systems include Einstein's prediction of spontaneous emission, and ongoing research into the thermodynamics of black holes. These four laws are: Zeroth law of thermodynamics: If two systems are in thermal equilibrium with a third, they are also in thermal equilibrium with each other.Systems

Rotation around a fixed axis is a special case of rotational motion. The fixed axis hypothesis exclude the possibility of a moving axis, and cannot describe such phenomena as wobbling or precession. According to Euler's rotation theorem, simultaneous rotation around more than one axis at the same time is impossible. If two rotations are forced at the same time, a new axis of rotation will appear. The kinematics and dynamics of rotation around a fixed axis of a rigid object are mathematically much simpler than those for rotation of a rigid body; they are entirely analogous to those of linear mo

Newton's laws of motion are three physical laws that form the basis for classical mechanics. They describe the relationship between the forces acting on a body and its motion due to those forces. They have been expressed in several different ways over nearly three centuries, and can be summarized as follows: First Law: Every body remains in a state of rest or uniform motion (constant velocity) unless it is acted upon by an external unbalanced force. This means that in the absence of a non-zero net force, the center of mass of a body either remains at rest, or moves at a constantspeed&
