Phenols Reactions of PhenolsCompounds in which a hydroxyl group is bonded to an aromatic ring are called phenols. The chemical behavior of phenols is different in some respects from that of the alcohols, so it is sensible to treat them as a similar but characteristically distinct group. A corresponding difference in reactivity was observed in comparing aryl halides, such as bromobenzene, with alkyl halides, such as butyl bromide and tert-butyl chloride. Thus, nucleophilic substitution and elimination reactions were common for alkyl halides, but rare with aryl halides. This distinction carries over when compa

Answer to a bigggggggg problemIt is kind of like two wrongs make a right. Let us say that x and y are both positive. Then the meaning of -(x) + (y) is just y - x and (y) - -(x) = y + x, subtracting a negative number is the same as adding the positive number. Now, let us say n is a positive integer. Then n * x can be thought of as adding x to itself n times which explains why a positive number times a negative number is always negative. So, what does -(n) * x? Well, multiplication is commutative, i.e., x * y = y * x. So -(n) * x = x * -(n) or -(n) * x = (-1 * n ) * x = ( n * -1 ) * x = n * ( -1 * x ) because

A long time ago in China, a metal worker fashioned a mirror for the first time ever. Looking at his reflection in the mirror, this man said: Oh, my God! My father has descended from heavens. On seeing her husband talking to himself, his wife peeped into the mirror. She saw her own face and screamed: why are you talking to another woman? The husband replied: I was not talking to a woman, I was talking to my father ! His wife was furious. She shouted: Not only are you talking with other woman behind my back, but you are also lying about it. You must be having an affair ! A preacher, who was passing by

The Aldol ReactionA useful carbon-carbon bond-forming reaction known as the Aldol Reaction or the Aldol Condensation is yet another example of electrophilic substitution at the alpha carbon in enols or enolate anions. Three examples of the base-catalyzed aldol reaction are shown in the following diagram, and equivalent acid-catalyzed reactions also occur. The fundamental transformation in this reaction is a dimerization of an aldehyde (or ketone) to a beta-hydroxy aldehyde (or ketone) by alpha C-H addition of one reactant molecule to the carbonyl group of a second reactant molecule. By clicking the "Structural Analysis" button below the diagram, a display

Don't Give Up If you've tried and have not won, Never stop for crying; All's that's great and good is done Just by patient trying. Though young birds, in flying, fall, Still their wings grow stronger; And the next time they can keep Up a little longer. Though the sturdy oak has known Many a blast that bowed her, She has risen again, and grown Loftier and prouder. If by easy work you beat, Who the more will prize you? Gaining victory from defeat,? That's the test that tries you! SO,FRIENDS! WAVE OFF THE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS & WELCOME THE BRIGHT LIGHT OF HOPE .
